Department of Education, Skills and Employment Australian Government Department of HealthfeedAustralia is a world leading, nutritional education and preventative health initiative.
With approximately 60 per cent of adults and 25 per cent of young people overweight or obese in Australia alone, the feedAustralia initiative aims to support a healthy nation through the deployment of an online menu planning tool.
Developed in partnership with the University of Newcastle, Hunter New England Population Health and Healthy Australia, feedAustralia was trialled in 2016 and made available to early childhood education and care providers in 2017 to help the sector to monitor, assess and improve the delivery of food and drinks to the children in their care, in alignment with Australian Dietary Guidelines.
feedAustralia is available to all early childhood education and care providers at no cost and has been built and explicitly trialled to integrate with the Federal Child Care Subsidy System for operational efficiency. Early childhood education and care providers can register for feedAustralia by clicking here.
The feedAustralia App for child care services and their families seamlessly integrates feedAustralia’s nutritional database of over 200 recipes and more than 2,000 ingredients with established nutrient profiles and serve recommendations to make recipes and nutritional information available to parents of children enrolled in child care services that are currently using feedAustralia’s online menu planning tool. The feedAustralia App is available to download free on both iOS and Android devices.
The feedAustralia initiative is also ideal for all Australians looking for an easy way to improve the nutritional quality of meals served in the home. We are excited to announce that feedAustralia Families will be made available in 2019. To find out more about feedAustralia Families click here.
